I love Frasier

Since becoming a stay at home mom, I have a few guilty pleasures that I have succumbed to. One is the Sonic happy hour with my $0.92 large coke. The other is my current Netflix craving, Frasier. Tim and I are firm believers that life should not be wasted sitting in front of the TV, but we do appreciate a little mindless entertainment after a long day of yard/office/baby work.

Two years ago, Tim gave me a 6 month subscription to Netflix. Let's just say that I never turned in my discs on time and somehow to this day we justify this $10/month expense, even though it is never spoken of in our budgeting meetings. We do not get cable, so this is our means of staying current with the world. Well, that and internet. And talking to people.

Our television selection is very limited due to the length of our rabbit ears. We get the major network channels, half a dozen religious channels, and half a dozen Spanish speaking channels. One of our channels is 51, which carries some off the air sitcoms, one of which is Frasier. While this show is mostly ridiculous, I became hopelessly addicted. The subject matter is pretentious and above my head, but the humor is extremely clever. From Niles's painfully obvious infatuation with Daphne to the inability to capture Merris on camera to Frasier's ineptness at keeping a girlfriend... it's like a train wreck and I can't stop watching. Such good character development!

I have all ten seasons on my Netflix queue.. and I am nearing the end of season 8. Yes, hopelessly addicted. I have found it very hard to find a good comedy on TV these days, and I like the instant gratification of having my favorite show on DVD. I do have to say that I absolutely LOVE 30Rock. This humor is extremely clever (yes, even beats Frasier, I'm afraid). I hold 30Rock in as high esteem as Arrested Development.. maybe even higher. OK, so enough blogging about mindless matters, but I had to share one of my latest guilty pleasures. More to come!
